The Ramaz Politics Society (RamPo) is a forum dedicated to promoting the interest and the discussion of major issues and themes in politics today. Based at the Ramaz School in New City, and founded in 2012 by politically concered high school students, RamPo meets weekly at the Ramaz School during the academic year to debate and discuss current political affairs, publishes a monthly editorial, RamPost, and maintains a blog run solely by high school students. RamPo often hosts experts with backgrounds in the field of politics, ranging from political advocacy group leaders and newspaper editors to politicians and journalists. RamPo encourages open and passionate political thought and discussion, and is nonpartisan.

"Devoted to fostering student political discussion and thought"

In the winter of 2012, three sophomores and two juniors at the Ramaz School in Manhattan unknowingly had plans to form two seperate political cocurricular clubs. Somehow, the five students met and agreed to unite under one title, which would become known as the Ramaz Politics Society, or RamPo for short. All five co-founders and co-presidents made it their goal to encourage the open discussion of politics in a school where the political spectrum seemed so uneven, and perhaps restraining to the political minority. RamPo took off from there.

I. OUR HISTORY

III. SOCIAL MEDIA

The Ramaz Politics Society is easily accesible through numerous social media outlets. RamPo runs a private Facebook forum for high school students that is updated multiple times daily by any of the 80 members. Members can post articles, videos, polls and questions to the group, and debates via comment threads follow. RamPo also maintains a public Facebook page, as shown here, which has an updated feed of current political affairs. Those who follow can share and comment on the public posts. Follow us here! The Ramaz Politics Society also runs two blogs. RamPo's public blog updates readers with current event topics and followers can comment on blog posts. RamPo's private blog keeps followers and members informed with news about RamPo's upcoming meetings, guest speakers and RamPost publishings. The private blog is set to be released soon.

During the academic year, RamPo comes together weekly to discuss the most current and pressing political issues. Students from all grade levels engage in unstructured and moderated debate. RamPo also facilitates schoolwide polls and guest speaker sessions, which are open to the public. RamPo also publishes an opinion editorial called RamPost, which is a collection of student opinion pieces on the biggest issues in politics. While the publication is nonpartisan, all viewpoints are accepted and published. You can find more information about RamPost here.
